Not sure which to choose?

Start with the specification in your car’s manual, then choose the viscosity. If you do not have the manual, the oil selector will find the oil by VIN or by make and model.

Questions before you buy

  • What matters is the specification in the manual, not the oil brand; take the viscosity from the manual too.

  • A low-ash oil: Mobil 1 ESP or Mobil Super 3000 Formula V, P, R, RN or XE1. Mobil 1 FS and Super 2000 are for engines without a filter.

  • It depends on the gearbox type: ATF for a step automatic, CVTF for a continuously variable transmission, DCTF for a dual-clutch box with wet clutches. The vehicle manual gives the gearbox type and specification.

  • Do not assume they are interchangeable. Choose an oil with the class and specification set by the carmaker, not just the same viscosity.
