The machine manufacturer specifies the oil type and viscosity, so start with the machine’s documentation. If you do not have it, ask an engineer — we will find an equivalent of the oil you use.

Questions before you buy

  • When a leak could reach soil or water, e.g. in forestry machines and on ships. SHC Aware Hydraulic 32 is biodegradable and carries the EU Ecolabel.

  • Mineral oil is sufficient for most machines running at normal temperatures. Choose a synthetic for frost or high temperatures, and where oil changes are difficult.

  • Not always. The same ISO VG grade does not mean the same base oil, additives or machine manufacturer approvals.

  • The machine manual is the starting point, but a sample analysis is the most reliable guide to timing.

  • We have two tax warehouse locations, so you can buy lubricants under excise duty suspension or excise exemption. Ask us about the terms.
